I’m not doubting you, however, why did the issue start after the ignition system swap?

Also, what would you do on the carb, other than put a super e on it? (As I told you before, I intend to, but my cash flow isn’t right yet to do upgrades unless absolutely needed at this moment.)
As I said before double check your timing.

As for the carb I'm not a fan of the CV carb at all but others like it.
To the best of my knowledge the best thing you can do for that CV carb is send it to Killer Carbs and have them rebuild it.

Yesterday I changed out my choke cable and I am thinking that was what was causing the persistent issues of having to adjust the mixture constantly. After I put it all back together I let it warm up and closed the choke, ran like a top. Actually changed the sound of it too a little. Once I took it off, I noticed the old cable was sticking a bit. Which I guess would keep it from operating normally due to messing with the mix.

I had a similar issue once and it wound up being a tiny air leak at the manifold band.
Up until last week It's been 15 years since I owned an EVO, it's like starting all over again.

This MF here was a headache and a half until I started learning how to do everything myself. Before that I was screwed lol. Woulda prolly bought a new carb if the nut on the cable hadn’t broken.

Next order of business is to change my oil. Probably be Saturday or next week before I can, but I definitely need to get it done.

Anyone here use an oil cooler? Not one of the big ones with fans, just the little one that has a heat sink on it.

So this is where I’m at until winter on my sooner issues:
-New Return cable
-oil change
-new mixture screw (because I want the thumb adjustable one)
-new idle screw for the carb
-heat sink oil cooler

Yeah I run a Jagg 6 row oil cooler mounted to the left down tube.
Works great.
