My engine oil light is on when the engine is hot. Tried to check oil level by the tank while the engine is hot and running and oil sprayed from the oil tank inspection plug. What would be the problem? Worn oil pump or just plugged passage or something else?
Indonesia?
howdy.
Is this a new thing?
Next is a real gauge to verify your idiot switch is not being an idiot -maybe that should be the first thing you should do?
I would.
If I remember the EVO is supposed to have 8 to 10 lbs at idle @ the correct idle RPM, which is very important.
of course, there is the chance there is the wrong oil in the bike. 20-50 is about right.
Are you talking idle? There is a pressure retainer ball or plunger to maintain idle pressure for the light. Usually, it is oiling and when that seat area gets worn or trash in it, it sets the light at idle and other then that, it's OK. Depending on year, there is about 5 different valves. Usually in and around oil filter or in the exit line at oil pump. Add a signature line on your bike similar to mine..

Yeah, from this other side of the world, all good bud 👍
Not new to this, been in many on and off relationship with evo since 1999 but always with non stock or incomplete bike without any functioning dash this is the first time I have stock evo bike and also this problem, not the idiot light but the oil tank pressure build up. I know now that idiot light is not to be trusted and I need to get proper gauge 😁 but what worried me the most was the pressure release from the oil tank. I tried to inspect the oil level and return flow, purposely left the engine on while undoing the oil filler plug like I sometimes do with my 2012 Fatboy, to my surprise I was immediately sprayed by damn hot oil from the opening. It wasn't very pleasant at all I can tell you 😫... I don't think pressure supposed to buid up inside my oil tank.

Yes, when I either idle or gliding through without throttle. As soon as I give it a gas it dissapear but I have pressure build up inside my oil tank.
