Hi all.

Been a Lurker for some time.

Recently bought a 1998 FXDWG with only 7080 km on the odometer.

Only changes are Airfilter and Screamin Eagle slip-ons.

Put in new battery, changed tires, all oils and brake fluid.
Even bought a spare drive belt (OEM) just in case.

Everything works as intended, but the odometer (trip) numbers has gone haywire.

The figures are difficult to read, it looks as if the figures sort of leaked out a little so I have to really try hard to read them, and it’s only possible in soft light and from an angle.

I will drive it for a while and see if I need to do anything to it, like a bolt in cam.

I used to own a 1991 FLHS many years ago so I’m not all that new to EVOs.

/Kjell

Welcome to the forum.

I've heard that if you clean the speedo pick up that can cure some problems with the speedo read out.
The speedo pick up is located on the right side top of the transmission.

Default Thanks!

Thanks!

I will look into the Speedo drive as You suggest.
I however suspect that the crystals forming the digits are shot.

Don't know why I get a notification when "spend your money" shows in the Evo section?

Welcome and you can trust me

I think you need about 20 or 30 posts before you're allowed to post pictures. Just keep plugging away and welcome to the forum!

Default Cam

Bolt in Cam and valve springs.
I will keep the CV carb, just a rejet.
Might change the Ignition to a Dyna 2000.
Probably clean up the ports and a raise the compression a little bit.
But that’s all.

Last time I owned a EVO the Andrews -46 cam was considered to be a good choise.

I have to read up on what’s considered to be a good cam now 15 years down the road.
