well I did it again.
I picked up a nice 98 Fatbot over the weekend, p.o had installed a DNA springer from end and forward controls, re-painted all tins and fitted V$H pipes.
But I am not happy with the ride of the Springer, it is hard...real hard.
It looks like the springer does not have enough travel to be able to soak up bumps, plus the front brake setup looks wrong.
Now I have zip knowledge of these front ends, but I do know that something is very wrong.
Many help is appreciated.

The front brake does go forward and not behind on springers. It will be a tougher ride.
As far as the travel...., they make lowering kits for springers which pretty much consist of shorter springs to drop the length. Inadvertently it will ride stiffer. Maybe the previous owner put that on. I can't tell by looking at it though.
I agree. That is an awfully heavy bike for that front end.
First thing I'd try is pulling the caps and tightening the adjustment nuts a good bit. Like maybe three or four full turns. Play around with that and see how it responds.
If that doesn't get you there, you could try calling Paughco and seeing if they have a spring set they recommend.
Also, get the front wheel off the ground and make sure that the PO has the brake installed correctly on the axle. Verify the axle nut torque first, then pull one of the bolts holding the Heim joints and verify that the caliper holder rotates freely around the axle.
^^ Except I thought the Brake Carrier was like other ones... a Spacer, that cannot rotate if axle is Tight???
No Personal experience with a DNA Springer tho...
Cheers guys.
I got the complete fat boy front end with the purchase so I will probably put that on.
i have not heard anything good about DNA springers.
would be the safer option I think.
