Default Rocker Arm Assembly

If I have the older rocker arm assembly (non-breather), and I would like to run with breather heads, do I just need to get the middle rocker cover? I think the lower cover and upper covers are the same, but not sure.. Thanks.

I think you need a whole bunch of other stuff to run breather heads.
The timing cone is different afaik TOO.
Why would you want to switch?
In this case the bottom breather is better than the top in my opinion.

I'm thinking about putting an Evo motor together. Right now, I would be putting a '97 flywheel assembly in a '88 case, and I have '97 heads, but non-breather rocker cover assembly laying around.

My plan was to get '93 later cone cover, and build a top breather engine, and just wanted to know if I needed a different set of rocker cover assembly, or just the different middle rocker cover section, since it's the one that has the umbrella valve.

I think the upper rocker cover and lower cover rocker are the same, but needed some input. Thanks.

PS. I also prefer lower case breather too (my 89 FL). No data to compare the two, except bro-science. Less potential mess and maintenance to deal with, but I think they both work well.

AFAIK it is not just the cone cover, the inside of the case is slightly different for a head breather.
Compare the gaskets.
Call someone that really knows Scott at -Hillside perhaps?
