I wish I had written the tolerance dwn.
If your engine is in many pieces maybe you can measure the travel of one of them..

Where are you getting the lifters? I recently picked up some of the regular ones on Amazon and had to send them back.

Couldn't get an answer from Topline either but did get some specific setting info from this website :https://www.amsmotomachine.com/index...lifter-install. Unfortunately, it's for twinkie engines but a lifter is a lifter and I imagine it's the same.

In the posted article above;
The goal of adjusting the PRs is to simply lengthen the PR enough to position the lifter’s ball-seat/plunger assembly slightly below plunger/ball seat retaining clip. For most AMS-Hylift Slow Bleed lifters this means lengthening the PR another 0.060” to 0.073”.
For people who like to understand how things work, attaching a good article:
http://www.hammerperf.com/ttpushrodlength.shtml

The article just attached states .050" to .150" works, those who have ran a EV27 or several of us that have used a Woods cam or any square lobed cam with thermal cylinder growth added in .150" tames the noise created from valve train shock and what we know works from experience. The basic .100" is a good target for normal cams because a Harley engine can grow .030" with heat, will the .060" - .073" work? sure it will but a good point is .100" comes back to .070" when hot.

Got the word from a tech at Hylift Johnson today: they recommend .20 to .40, best at .30 for the 2308S slow leak down lifters with the setup I'm running. That turns out to be one full of an S+S quickie pushrod. Going to start with their recommendation and see how it goes. BTW, they were much easier to get a hold of via email, answered back within 1 hour.
