Doing a little Thanksgiving fork maintenance on the King. Have a few photos that I snapped while working on the bike. Forks were bottoming out a bit.
Didn't really take any of the nacelle disassembly, that's pretty straight forward. Banjo fitting needed to come off Windshield was rattling, what better time to replace some bushing Fresh parts Doesn't look like the fork oils been changed in while
Have to wait until tomorrow to finish. Need a small tube to hook onto the funnel to get around the bars.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
Does Mrs JJ know you're using her kitchen dish?! Hope you get your turkey before she finds out.....
Fork oil probably looks like that by the time you get to the end of your street.

No she doesn't. When it's casserole time, "I don't know dear" is the standard operating answer when she comes lookin. I couldn't pass it by. Just fit to nicely on the bike lift.
Worked well also for the clutch plates I soaked a few weeks ago.

You obviously have form! Mine is a very old enamelled-steel kitchen dish from way back, liberated long ago from my Mum's kitchen.....
15 weight fluid will make a nice difference in the front........ Did it to my Fatboy. A little firmer....
Not knowing any different, just went with the type E the FSM stated to use. Already had it bought before I started. Looked like ATF.
Took a bit of time to fill each fork. They give 2 methods in the book. Option A, through the top of the forks. Option B, vacuum it in. Since I didn't have the specialty tools or the vacuum, option A was the only route.
Using a clear tube, and a small funnel, took about an hour per fork for the air to burp out as I'm filling em SLOOOOOWLY.
The post itself is probably boring, and pedestrian to most of you who've done much harder tasks, but I always dig it when people post their work, so I thought "why not".
