Default New Wheel mod

Tried posting this in the Touring section with only 1 response so thought I’d try here.
I'm trying to fit an '07 Street Glide wheel with 1" bearing on my '91 Electra Glide with 3/4" axle and front wheel speedometer. Anyone have any info on part numbers to help me get this sorted out would be greatly appreciated. I know I need 3/4" bearings but not sure what size spacers and what will work for the speedometer. Going to take both wheels to a custom shop today but looking for some info if there is any out there to have an idea of parts if possible before hand. Cheers

Anything is possible. I will outline the process the shop will go through for you.

Get a conversion bearing set which you will end up with sealed bearings

Then center the wheel, thus probably requiring new spacers.

Then shim or machine the brake brake to be centered. If you have a speedo drive front drive unit you will probably loose this option and have to come up with another way to drive the mechanical speedo.

Do your old rotors bolt up to the new rims? If so the speedo should not be an issue seeing that the tab for the speedo fits into the rotor. Then all you have to do is properly space the wheel (center) and make sure the brake rotor is centered in the caliper..

Why would he lose the speedo ?

Here's a write up I did a while back, different wheel and bearing size but the process will be very similar.

He could loose the speedo because a speedo drive doesn't necessarily work with the new setup. The new style brake rotors have a different inner hole size to mount to the wheel. In other words he will need to use new style rotors which don't have the cut out for the speedo drive tab.

You could machine one into it. Then you have the issue of the speedo drive not working with sealed bearings.

Like I said though. Anything is possible depending on the time and money you want to spend for a wheel

Starting to see what your talking about. The sealed bearings will sit further out of the hub than the timkens.

That's just a matter of getting a speedo drive with the right spacer on it or get one without an attached spacer and add the size you need to make it fit.

With the rotor it should just be cutting a notch with a grinder the bending the speedo drive tab to fit along with the axle spacers.
