No gasket in derby and a strong stream of water during washing might have cause that
I wonder if synthetic oil would have responded differently or vice versa? Or the same with both?
I would have pulled the clutch pack out of the cage and inspected everything if I had the primary cover off. That stupid gasket is $30! Make sure you have either a big O ring or a gasket on the derby cover (I have both) and you should also have a gasket at the primary chain inspection cover.

If you have AFM (aluminum foam mat) gaskets you can reuse them several times without a problem.

Just started using them (AFM) in all my maintenance and repairs. I like them alot! However, I use the O-ring on the clutch inspection cover. It seems to work as long as the cover is not over torqued which can cause the cover to warp. YD
The paper plate gasket holds up really well. Like it better than the o ring that warps easily.
But again. Only time I’ve ever seen oil turn milky, is when it cooks in water and agitated by moving sprockets LOL
I just bought the bike a couple weeks ago, and have been really busy. So I decided to change all the fluids the other day, and found that. The oil filter was a B-tch to get off as well. I think the last owner just rode it and wasn't too keen on maintenance. All new gaskets, filter and fluids. I take care of my bike(s). Everything seems to be good . Now time to ride!
Carl. You use the o ring and paper gasket at the same time?
Yup. The O ring is pretty old and I doubt would work well on it's own. The gasket isn't paper. It's kind of a hard rubber thing. It may not come with a stock bike and could be an accessory or something. But the rubber gasket fits over the top of the O ring anyhow, making it useless. I keep it in there mostly for nostalgia.
