You need that external retaining ring for your throwout bearing assembly or it's going to come apart. Can you pull out your throwout bearing assembly? Start looking for that retaining ring.

Yes I took everything apart and could not find the ret clip but it all stays in place once everything is bolted up, because the ramp sits on the throwout bearings.
Ok, let's say that you are lucky and there was no clip there, and it didn't come apart yet. Did you put a screwdriver in from the left side and push the clutch push rod to the right side and see if it moves freely? If your clutch push rod moves freely, then you might have to look inside your clutch pack. There's the evil clutch spring plate that can come apart and mess with not only your clutch adjustment, but can scar your clutch basket.
That's as far as I go, because my older bike doesn't have the spring plate in the middle and I don't have experience with that going bad. Something to check. And, put a retaining ring on that throwout assembly before you put it back in service.

Due to my old eyes I finally saw I have a bad throwout bearing and found half of the retaining clip with my magnet. But that still dont account for a full inch of clutch lever slack. I will replace everything tomorrow and see if I can adjust everything to make it work again.

Thanks for the input Dave. I have a 2 year old Barnett Scorpion clutch, it has no evil spring plate but I guess there could be a problem in there. Thought,, If the clutch itself was the problem my clutch lever wouldnt move at all cause the clutch is staying engaged. The lever is not working at all. Mystery..
Also I pulled the rod out from the rt side and it slides smoothly.
Keep in mind that 2" of lever movement equates to .070" travel of the of the clutch pushrod. So if you lose the throw out bearing there goes a minimum of .030"
