The 1996 Fb is a great ride if you like EVO's
In the long run, if you plunk down 5k or 9k, its how many years if enjoyment you get from it that matters. In a few years you wont count the few ks difference in price.

Buying price depends on return profit.
If someone just wants a classic to ride with. Then yeah. How bad do you want it? $9k is a lot for something that will require more maintenance than say, a late model. On this forum I have come to this realization. And the reason I’m here is to help me decide if I will ever settle on an evo. I can tell an evo by the sound it makes. Its the sound.
Now don’t get me wrong. I’m kind of a motorcycle ****. But, the evo is one motor that really speaks to me. That and the desmo from Ducati.
So, how bad someone wants something determines what they are willing to pay. If they got it? Go for it!
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
I purchased my bike new Nov,1997... $13,025 before taxes. Ive had 100,000 trouble free miles over the last almost 23 years. If I found a mostly stock 97/98 bike with 11k on the odometer, in great condition, I would be overjoyed to pay $7000 for it!
I have a lot if parts I could move over to the new bike... fairing, luggage rack, seat, etc etc etc.
I know the machine top to bottom, so no learning curve.
So value is derived at through my experience. Im sure I could buy a much newer TC for that same 7k, but I wouldnt be interested, because I dont have the same experience with one to draw on.
Value on these bikes can be a tricky question.
