Default My '84 FXRS

Well I got this bike in the spring and had to do a little work to get her up and going....more to come but shes looking good so far....just wanted to share:
So far I replaced the starter, solenoid, bendix...new air cleaner, seat, changed the bars, la choppers t bar gauge mount, added the bullet lights, all new control switches....those forward controls i got for a good deal (had old forwards on it that were trash) but i just acquired all the mid control parts and that's next...put the mags and new tires on (had crappy spoke wheels), laydown plate..she rides nice!

Nice clean ride..!!
I’m a big fan of mid-controls and forward pegs, but to each his own. Do you have any idea about the age/condition of the front motor mount, motor stabilizer linkages and swing arm rubber isolators??
unless those have been recently replaced, they would be next on my “ restoration checklist “. How about the front fork oil..?? You can’t do much with those 35 mm front forks, but new oil in the right amount will always help a little.
I just put Pro-Action shocks on my ‘85 FXRS and love’em. Just a thought. They aren’t cheap, but none of the good shocks are.
Again.. nice looking clean bike..! Congratulations.

Thanks!! I'm switching back to mid controls this week....it was a bit of a challenge scoring all the parts lol but i think i got 'em all....as far as the motor mounts, swingarm rubber, and the stabilizer, they seem to be ok as of now...i plan on upgrading the motor a bit next year so i'm thinking some new ones will be in order around then. New shocks will be in order eventually as well. as far as the 35mm front end...i have some weepage on the left side tube but have new seals already...those will be installed with fresh oil for now.

Nice bike!

FXR’s were and still are great bikes. If Harley kept that model alive....there’s no telling what it would have evolved into. If it were to come back....I’d be interested.

.
The addition of something like the Screamin Eagle Fork brace makes a Huge difference... I prefer the 35 with brace to the 39...

I would save some money up for a real exhaust... you'll be amazed...
