Default CV Carb drilling?

Reading on Nightrider webpage about the CV carb.
Notice the part about drilling the vacuum port on the slider with a 1/8” drillbit.

Anyone Done it and are happy with it?
I have no problems changing jets or needle but drilling is a step that can not be reversed.

Also I have seen someone writing that there are Stickys with CV threads, but I cannot seem to find the stickys.

Do I have to switch from surfing on the phone to a computer to find them?

Cheers!

There are any number of guys out there pushing their own particular "secret sauce" for CV tuning. Drilling slides, cutting coils off the spring, etc.

If you do it and hate it, you can always get a new slide. CV Performance sells them.

Personally, I don't see the point. I've never had trouble getting a good carb tune with stock components and following the standard procedure.

Sticky’s can be found here https://www.hdforums.com/forum/carburetor-related-60/
but some are from a while back and links may not work.

Default Many thanks!

Thanks!

I’ll try first without drilling and see the outcome.

I drilled mine back in 1994 when that was 'all the rage' along with a Yost powertube. Never really noticed any difference. The Yost is long gone, but I'm certain the slide is still drilled (carb has been tuned a couple times by indy's).

I put a Sportster needle in mine, shimmed it, and been happy with it for 11 years.

I've drilled a bunch. I started with the 1/8", which gave the bike really good throttle response. They after I hopped up the engine a bit it almost felt too responsive, so ever since then I've gone 7/64". Yes, it makes a difference. Now I drill them all out at 7/64" regardless of tune.

I drilled mine way back in the 90's, I forget the kit I installed. Worked better then stock, I was happy with it until I did a cam swap, then I went for a Mikuni and never looked back.
