Default Big sucker question.

HI,

I change the original airbox on my dyna 1994 by a Ness BIG SUCKER.

Do i need to re-jetting the carb?

The bike is 100% stock.

Thank in advance.

No not really, not until you change your exhaust because you ain't going to move more air out than the original exhaust can handle so you should be okay.. If however you do start popping a little bit on decel you might want to consider a jet change but until then I wouldn't worry about it...

Keep an eye out on the Arlen Ness backing plate. I had one on a 1998 Low Rider that cracked up next to the breather bolt. It lasted about 6 months. Maybe I just had a defective one or maybe their quality is better now.

It was done right....they were all in proper places. Sometimes things just break for no reason.

Just beware of lean fuel air mixture. I'm not familiar with your particular configuration but--in any "Any" engine,if you increase your oxygen but not your fuel, it will be leaner and leaner means hotter, and you can guess what happens if things get too hot. Research how to read signs of lean burn, such as color of your spark plugs (electrodes and insulators) for such evidence.Too hot is real bad. I did the same thing years ago with my 06 Heritage EFI but was lucky enough that someone the wizer pointed this out to me. I already had pipes so I added a stage 1 fuel system a few days later (increased the fuel to make the ratio "fuel air" correct).
Sure it was a bit more $$ but I was very pleased with the performance my investment made. Stage 1 is probably the biggest bang for your buck when your starting down that road of performance embellishments. I assume you can get the right balance by re jetting your carb, Check it out.
Good luck

In a way there's two questions here, the other being, "Does a stock dyna 1994 need its carb set up properly in the first place?", the answer being yes to optimize it.

If it's stock-stock, and you're taking it apart anyway, see if the idle screw has been drilled out and if not do that and/or replace it with an easier finger adjuster (you can use a small screw driver but it's a pain to get to). Chances are the needle is a bit lean and the main jet a bit too fat, because that's how they were made. Typical tweak is to replace the needle with a Sportster one.

Warren has a good point.. They were a little lean from there factory so checking that won't hurt. And I'll say it again you will not lean out your motor by changing out just the air cleaner... If you don't change what going out you cannot change what's going in..............

Like stated, adjust the fuel Air mixture because Harley's are lean from the factory because of EPA. but a rejet isn't necessary unless you change the pipes. It won't suck in any more air than the pipes will allow out.
