Default 91 Evo rebuild

  1. I’ve decided, even with all the new knowledge about my motor , that I am going to rebuild the whole thing and @ worst case I’ll be able to talk some shop w/ some buddy’s .
My question is ; dose anyone have any insights or tips they’d like to offer before I get iinto this “winter project” any suggestions os appreciated this is my first real hands on-by myself-getting-aquatinted EVO tebuild ( FYI Titania my first motorcycle or anything engine rebuild! ) As it stands , here’s the before pix of what I’m working with . I’ve been told the heads maybe wrong ? ( part # 17507-85 ) that the nose cone is wrong ( part # 25266-93 ) that the cyls are Axtell ( I do have a new set of stock ones ) it’s missing bolts and parts ( no carb push rods etc)
my hope is this : is like to build this motor to 103ci using either OEM parts I got or get and then doing what I can with them or get the performance part out right and upgrading the pwr plant Id like to use a magneto , duel plug rhe heads. Port & polish, add compression releases and hook it up to a 5sp ( which I have ) kick only which it ain’t . Also I’ve started shaving the front legs of the mid glide front end ( don’t know if I’m doing that right??) bc I won’t run front brakes only rear
amd I’ll have. Jockey shift and suicide clut ( paired to mid controls) I ain’t got a lot of $ but I got some, and have the luxury of low overhead ( still I’m repairing my Chrysler 300 in the process ) anyway I figured if their was info out their then here’s where it's at ok so lmk what ya thinking and let’s get this horse saddled ( speaking of, I started a swat pan tonight sorta the kickoff on this project) ok fire away... and thank you indavance for your sense both common and knowing, your trust and not abusing mine, friendship I will be some, and tolerance I’m sorry now for my stubbornness and think I know better sometimes bullshit
ride quick & stop fast

Now that's a plan!

Hope you have plenty of $$$.

You a machinist?

You need something like five or ten posts before you can add pics.

Personally, I'd forget about most of what you're thinking in terms of motor mods. Sounds like you're going for a seriously old school chop. You've got a bunch of stuff to sort out that will eat all your time and money. Keep the motor simple.

What kicker? Lot of junk out there. Good stuff (Baker) costs money.

What mag? Joe Hunt and Morris both have big twin mags you can retrofit.

You'll need to sort out some stuff on the 12v power for the lights.

Good luck, and get your post count up so we can see some pics.

IMO Cheaper and More effective to just Buy a Crate Motor..
This ain't no V8...
Now, If you are comfortable Balancing a Harley bottom end...Start there, with a 100plus CuIn build!!!

Lots of stuff going on there. To get to a 103"er it's gonna cost... As Racepres said a create motor will be cheaper. Do you have a press and trueing bench to properly true the stroker wheels, let alone balancing? For a first time on an Evo, the bottom is the heart and needs to be set up properly..

First build? I'd keep it simple.
Kicker? Hope it starts easy. lol
Its pretty hard building an engine for what you can get a new crate engine for.
Good luck with your project.

You might want to throw in a right knee rebuild if you're going to kick a 103" motor.

Seriously, I think you're really jumping in the deep end with all these mods. I think I would do it a little at a time.

One thing I'll add...

Full motor rebuild (including new carb and new ignition) + kick-only build means you won't even know if it will start. Put a bump starter like this on your list.

That could be a bit much to cart around all the time - perhaps an electric starter?! As for attempting to kick start a 103".....

To go from zero to a full 103 stroker build is a tall order. That's not to say it can't be done, but it's certainly ambitious.

Also expensive! I looked into doing that build, before deciding to buy my S&S 107". To get a large enough bore, to go with a stroker crank, required more sturdy crank cases, plus fresh cylinders.
