What would be a good compression number for a 1994 Road King FLHR with 57,000 miles? Just wanted to know to see if when I put a new cam, lifters, push rods, S and S carb in, if I should do head work and possibly hone the cylinders.

 

Nice fresh battery, air filter off, throttle at 100%, lift up the slide on the carb...do all that, and you should see at least 135 to 150 pounds.

 

Yup, as Omaha said but I would definitely do it before you take anything apart to get a base line and then post back on what cam you want to do and we'll give you some more pointers on how to maximize your upgrade..

If your numbers are on the low side a Leak Down test is a good thing to do.
