Default Harley FXR shifter shaft length
Good day,
Anyone knows the length of an OEM FXR shift shaft (mid controls)
In the process of building custom mid controls for an open belt, I need to make sure the shaft passes the thick Primo motor plate + the 2" belt.

Any input on (aftermarket) suitable shafts (maybe a 2-piece with seperate shaft) is highly appreciated as well.

While true Forward Controls would Not reach thru the Primary... I can measure later today... let it warm up a bit!!!!

None of my business... but, Why not just reach straight back from Shifter to trans linkage??? Save a couple of Joints and Linkages!!!!
Which almost always equals "Slop"

The idea is to create a 'racy' back step (so no forward controls), using the OEM position of the shifter shaft as a link point.

that's a lot more than I anticipated for.
This will even clear the open belt clutch.

Just happens to be one on the shelf in the Shop.
Remember the splines are included in that, so a lever will steal 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch!!!

Good luck there... Part Number is 34621-84
BTW the Dyna may just be pretty close to the same
PN 34621-90

Damn... The dimension I gave you is most probably a 34621-82, as I think it may be from my '83... The Plot Thickens!!!!

Ask this guy for a measurement!!!!
