Removing front fender on '98 Ultra, getting ready for full paint job.
. 2 front bolts came out fine....not so with back ones. So sprayed twice a day for 3 days with penetrant. Right side back finally broke loose and came out.
. Left back bolt snapped off in fork hole. So, need to get a straight shot to drill and extract or re-tap.
Question: Will the lower fork tube rotate 90 degrees independent of the upper, or can I unbolt banjo fitting and pinch bolt and rotate the whole unit? Never messed with forks before(obvious). Just looking for easiest way to get the job done.
Thanks. Ken

Actually yes it will but you have to remove fender, front wheel, and caliper.
For stability I would rotate the lower leg then put the axle back in.
Thanks Bagger and Kowboy. Just waiting for the rain to pass by and I'll be on it.
I love the Evo forum and my Evo. Been down about a month removing parts and prepping for paint. Only part left is gas tank. Fender goes in scrap pile....have another already primed. Thread coming on this project, soon I hope. Have new color picked out. Hell of a lot of work, being a trike. Paint and clearcoat are expensive.
If you have one, use a left handed drill bit to drill through the bolt. Center punch well before you drill so that the bit doesn't drift. There are plenty of "broken bolt" extraction videos online. Different thoughts and ideas. The LH drill bit works best IMHO.
Good luck!
