I've had issues in the past with the D2KI, not sure if I like the entire module down there in all that heat. Three years ago maybe longer I went to screamin eagle ignition modules which were made by Dynateck with selectable curves but I'm using a hall effect pickup (made by Standard Motor Products) down in the cone... I like the module outside the cone.. I think the heat does something to them.. And Yes as Racepres says, he likes the Sportster modules, they work good too... I think it's the J model module that is the aggressive one on the sportsters..
I'm on board with the heat theory. I can't think of a reason outside of a 'clean' custom build to keep it all in the cone. I've never met electronics that like it warmer.
The HI4's are made or rebranded through S&S. Not sure if there's been any changes in manufacturing.
My old Crane looked different than the new SS. I would hope they would try to make a better product over the years. I'm not the only one who had problems with it. Crane knew they produced a bad product.
