Default 36 inch fishtails

Hey I was wondering if anybody knew where I could find a set of 36 inch fishtail exhaust for a 1987 Electra glide flhtc. I can only find 31” I feel like they would look kinda funny being so short.

Are you still running the original flange mount pipes, or have you changed them to slip fit?

hey thanks yeah mine are the flange mount pipes. Can I change them to the slip fit ? Or would I have to run a whole next exhaust from the heads back to fit that.

I wasn’t sure if the slip fit will fit over or inside the end of the exhaust. The ones on there are like tapered to a smaller to fit inside .

The flange mount stuff is about all gone, though you might get lucky if you're patient and search ebay regularly. But what you find will likely be very well used. You'd be much better served to change the pipes, if you're determined to do straight pipe fishtails. Any pipes up to '05 will bolt on, and maybe later, though you'd have to plug the O2 sensor holes.

But don't throw away your old pipes. Not many, but some people like me still use the flange mounts. That rear pipe was $450. when they were still avaliable.

great thanks for the help. Do you think the slip on ones will fit over it? I was thinking if it was a close fit I can slid it over the exhaust that’s on and bolt it down with just a bigger flange or like a c clap.

No they won't. The "muffler" end is 1 5/8 OD and the pipes are about the same ID on the flange mounts. The OD of the flange is 2 1/8. Only thing close would be 1 7/8 after cutting the flanges off the pipes .

No doubt you can make something work , but I hate to see rare parts butchered up, that's just me...
