Im thinking the large part of the speedo would sit at the same level of the instrument panel and the smaller circumference would stick above the panel. You got any pics of yours!
Not yet but if you want me to I can.
It might be a bit though as I just finished supper and don't really feel like moving!!!!!
Well last night after looking at options on how to fix/coverup the problem. I think I found the missing part needed. Aftermarket shop has a gasket labeled with the same part number of HD. Part looks completely different from HD exploded parts book. Waiting on shipping. I will post the results. Stay tuned!
Hows does the speedometer sit in the instrument panel? It looks like the previous owner replaced the glass and the trim ring on the speedometer. It takes a little twisting and pulling to get the the instrument cluster off the speedometer. Question does the spreedometer sit below the instrument panel utilizing the flange on the speedometer or does the speedometer push through the instrument housing with a gasket between the speedometer and instrument panel. Currently the speedometer sits about a 1/4" about the instrument panel. Could the previous owner put the wrong bezel on it? Also I can't push the speedometer down any farther to make it flush? The exploded view doesn't provide any help or nor does the service manual? Any help would be appreciated.
iirc, the speedo is mounted to the console bracket, and the console is mounted separately. They are not bolted together. You need to lower the speedo mounting points on the bracket.

If he does that then his trip meter reset **** won't fit through his dash anymore.
