Had a lifter go bad scuffed a lobe on the cam. Pulled the the lifter blocks, and cam, cam chest looked good, breather gear and bore had no metal, look good. Oil was returning to the tank OK. My question is, can I flush the oil pump without disassembly?

If there were no shiny critters in the cam chest, I wouldn't worry much about it. I've split cases on ones that had problems like that and never found a thing.
If it makes you feel better though, while the cam cover is off, put a pan under the right side and with oil in the tank, turn the engine forward direction (by hand or rear wheel). That will push clean oil thru the pressure side and out the oil journals at 9 o'clock of the gasket surface of the cam chest. Don't forget to check the tappet screen if you haven't already.
Hook a hose to the return fitting and with a funnel or whatever you can fashion, let about a cup of oil drip back thru the pump overnight. That'll get the return side flushed.
