Default 92 FLHS Question

This bike appears as tho someone shaved the cooling fins off the cylinders?

Reason for asking. Think I am in the market for an FLHS. Means selling my 78-1/2 FXE. Not a lot around that are close to stock and have low miles (considering the age of the bike).

Saw this one. It is on the opposite coast. Trying to figure out why the cylinders have been shaved? And yes I know I can always ask the seller.

They're probably non stock.
But if they're stock it was for the look,IMO.

Panz, I would walk away form that one, clearly the motor is not stock. He either did it for looks, which will equal a hotter motor, or some sort of crazy race cylinders. Either way, I don't like that he was that deep into the motor.

the engine is a custom built cylinders. they are not shaved, my bet is added stroke and some crazy set up. best not take a chance.

I don't think anybody shaved the cooling fins there's only seven per cylinder those are definitely aftermarket look at the base of the cylinders. but it's still probably worth looking into to see what the guys got into it you never know.. Not sure though if I'd buy anything that I couldn't visually inspect on site..

Don’t know why they were shaved off....aftermarket some sort.

Instead of looking for an FLHS.....I would be looking at Road Kings myself. There’s lot more to pick from.

Cool

C'mon chaps, don't walk away too soon! The FLHS was the budget bike of the range, with polished and plain alloy engine etc. The crankcases were not black, nor were there any chrome parts on the engine/trans. So something is going on here - how come nobody is interested to find out?! Panz, we need more info old chap - go dig a bit more, please.

Got to remember one thing too, it's only an asking price at 12G. lots of people put prices way high just to get what they really want... Who knows what the guy has into the bike and some of it might make a difference but probably not even 9 g's.. Got to agree with Graham, I'd like to know more about it too......
