Was going for a afternoon ride on my 1998 Ultra....just leaving the driveway and it didn’t feel right.
Well.....rear tire was nearly flat! Dang it....just rode this past Thursday.
Don’t we just hate crap like that? At least it was home in the driveway.

My last flat was in rural France, a few years ago, on a Saturday at around 5pm. France was already closed by then, as it was all day Sunday AND Monday! Didn't really get going until late Tuesday morning, by which time the recovery truck could take me the 60 miles or so to the nearest Harley dealer. Recovery service couldn't find anyone nearer who was prepared to tackle a Glide! Finally got back on the road late Tuesday afternoon, got back to our hotel in time for evening meal, so we got going again Wednesday, first thing! The cause of the flat was a blown rubber valve stem - effing thing....
More normal flats are caused by the sneaky front tyre flicking things like nails etc into the path of the poor ole trusting rear tyre, so no surprise yours is the one that took a hit.

Yea....gonna put a patch on it tomorrow. If not....tube goes in. My last flat was around Tucson on a Sunday afternoon and 104 outside. Sheet metal screw got me.

My front tire popped in the late 70's and took me into on coming traffic, thankfully the speed limit was 30 and they saw I was in trouble and were able to stop giving me room to get it to the far left curb. Not sure how I held it up, you lose all control, the bike flopped over when I scrubbed the curb. My legs were shaking so bad I could hardly stand. I thought it was going to be a head on. I don't ever want to be in that position again.

Ouch! Reminds me of a similar nail that got my poor little BSA Bantam (close relative of the Harley Hummer) many years ago, went in one side of the rear tyre and came out the other, darned thing was so big! Fortunately I was only half a mile away from home.
