Default lower rocker box
i need a lower rocker box for a 1998 evo . did the rocker boxes ever change during the evo period ?
i only need one for the back cylinder . is there a front and back or are the the same ?

Yeah they changed in 92 but I'm not sure exactly what the differences were.
They are the same front and rear.

Yeah they changed from bottom breather (84-92) to top breather (93-98) You must use the later style on the '98 and they are same, front or rear as THC pointed out.

I had a 89 that the rocker boxes leaked. Apparently they were warping. They had a new part number on the boxes and the dealer said they changed something, can’t remember if it was material or design, because they had too many problems.

You mean besides the dealer?
I'm guessing you could find one on e-bay if you had the part number.

I'm pretty sure I have one except it's polished rather than chrome.
Came off a 97 EG

The parts catalog list it as the inner rocker cover. Chrome part #17530-92 and plain part #17521-92A. Good luck!
