Does it have the same engine, transmission and primary oil that it came from the factory with, brake fluid should be changed every couple years or it will absorb moisture and ruin the calipers and master cylinders. Has it been ridden? In my opinion, if you're handy you have a lot of wrenching and $ ahead of you. If you're good at taking the bike to a shop, you will need deep pockets. Lots of used parts fit that bike, I think the frame and transmission were very comparable from mid 80 to 06. Motor from 84-98. No fuel injection is a good thing.
look at the competition on Craigslist etc. all in all I would be very interested if the price was reasonable.
It’s a two owner bike.
This cat has had the bike for 3 years and put about 3k miles on it. He also installed apes and braided lines all the way around on the brakes, as well as the throttles and clutch cables. So there shouldn’t be an issue with the brakes.
He says he’s changed the oil 3 times since he’s had it and just changed the primary and transmission fluids last month. New tires too!
I don’t have a clue as to a fair price and when I search online for similar bikes the prices are all over the place.

this search engine checks multiple CL sites. You're 2nd post giving better running details, but I prefer stock over some pinched wires showing up later. But that is how it goes buying a bike that old. Best of luck with the decision.
If im getting 2 bikes they wouldn't be so close to matching as what I think im reading you say.
After searching every region it’s evident that Evo’s are getting hard to come by! I can’t find a comparable match. The price is comparable to the asking price of TC88’s from the mid 2000’s
My RK has over 100k on the clock and is starting to look it. I also have a son and a nephew that visit often and it will be nice to have an extra bike for their use.
Other than a crap cam bearing, those were pretty trouble free.Maybe drop in a better cam like an ev13 and do the bearing at the same time.Price wise I’m thinking no higher than 5500.
Funny, I had an 85 FLH that I went everywhere on. West Coast and Sturgis in '89. Daily driver around town. So mad at the salt I would ride through and all the dings and scars it received. I got my friend's '85 FXRS that's nice and I'll keep it as stock as I can. My dream bike was always a late evo metallic red Road King. I was always thinking I'll never afford one. Maybe when I'll get out of debt I'll finance one or something. Now hearing these prices it might be possible one day. Maybe I'm just old fashioned, ... older Nikon lenses vs. new, real steel racing bicycles vs the carbon and plastic crap of today. I'll keep reading and re-learning...
