Hey folks, Im converting my 91 dyna controls to the 96 and up versions.
Just wondering if there are any pointers ? match colors of wires to original wires? I scored a nos set and prefer the rounded corners so Im refreshing the old style switches.
Nice choice for sure! The 1995/1996 softail fsm covers both types in one manual. Other than the connectors, its shape and size, I am not too sure what would actually be different. The voltage? Nope, it's the same. My 1995 softie has the Molex style connectors which is what I'd guess is on your bike. The newer Deutsche are more stout, they have gaskets to help seal out the elements.
I would 100% guess it is an easy swap. One weekend end in the garage.
Are the wires on the switches long enough to reach the original connection point?
You can use whatever connector type works best on your bike, I recommend staying with whatever was original equipment, I think your bike came with AMP Mate n Lock connectors.
You can get the parts from a zillion online electrical supply places, but the easiest way to get a few terminals and connectors is from Namz.
