I have a 1985 FXRC, aka "candy glide or root beer glide", I bought from my brother in NY he was the second owner. I finely got the original gas tank and finders from him, so I can get rid of his dark purple and light purple"looks pink in the pics!! lol but it really is light purple" custom paint job, my brother smokes to many left handed cigarettes' but that's another story! The sad part his its a real quality paint job, but just not for me, so I guess I can sell the tins someone will like them,The ladies love it, they say "your bike is so pretty", kinda like saying your di_k cute!! NOT GOOD!! Anyway I cant find any info the original on the paint code colors, The bike only came in one color two tone candy apple orange. I posted some pics of the original tins for the bike, and the bottom pics what the bike should look like, they are two tone tannish white and candy apple red and he swears its the original paint. I don't think so! I've never seen a early FXR with this color combo, but I want your guys opinion! I have verified it is a 85 FXRC with the vin and all the other numbers on the bike match. Threw my research I've learned that harley out sourced these paint jobs, so please does anyone know anything about the paint so I can but the bike back right
In 1985 there were two FXR LIMITED EDITIONS.
One was official the other was unofficial.
The "OFFICIAL" one was the FXRC Low Glide Custom, which was unofficially dubbed the " Candy Glide " in honor of the color scheme of the paint which was Candy Orange and Root Beer with orange-brown seats. Only 1,084 were built in 1985.
The "UNOFFICAL" FXRS special was a version offered with the chrome covers of the FXRC, but without the candy paint. Only some 299 of these were built in 1985.
Edit: I guess You already knew all of the above.
I have tried to find the paint/color codes for Your bike.
No luck.
From 1998 and ownwards is easy to find.
Also the really early models like the 30'thies models.

It looks as if Harley worked with PPG custom paint group during these years.
Some of the paint were really custom jobs and in small series like yours, e.g. one year/one model only.
Some of the candy colors used both silver and gold as a base for the candy top layer...
That would be hard to recreate.
You could contact PPG and se if they kept any records, or You could register as a member on some dedicated FXR forums and try to find if a fellow FXRC owner already found out the paint codes.
That's a good idea to contact PPG and the FXR forums, I found a couple of guys on there with 85 FXRC's but none of them have been active on here since like 2012
Did you ever find the paint code for the 85 FXRC? I also need it
