Co-worker gave me a call yesterday asking if a 90 Fatboy their relative had was worth $2000. Said it had been setting 4 years, new battery and tires just put on it but dumping oil while cranking, I didn't hesitate and said buy it.
Turned out to be a bike of history and the relative owning it was a vet who no longer rode it and wanted someone to ride the bike. Reading up on it turned out to be the first year Fatboy(silver) with the 7 yellow rings, history of Harley or maybe just legend explains about the Fatman/Littleboy bomb dropped with 7 yellow rings, the veteran owner also told the story to the co-worker, I told them I wasn't aware of this bike but after reading up on it and seeing the pictures they got a hell of a bike.
7 Rings:
2 on the tank
Ignition ring
Cam cover
Primary cover
2 on the rocker boxes
Update: they sent me a video of it running, sweet Evo sound

Yes' that's a helluva deal on a very desirable and collectable bike! I would have jumped on that too. The oil pumping could be due to it's sitting for so long and sumping the oil into the crankcase. Put a catch pan under it and crank it with the plugs out until it stops and then fill the oil tank to the minimum level and try to start it. Very envious. Good luck and give us an update.

Yeah, I told them about the sumping issues and no big deal. They sent me a video of it running but wouldn't load, also added the 7 ring location on the first post.
I hate being kinda selfish but felt pissed off I don't own it after seeing it and was in the same area I live, they are going to ride it to work and have me look at some slight damage on the front fender.
Just for clarification on the 7 rings. There two bombs dropped on Japan were named Fat Man and Little Boy. Both bombs had 7 yellow rings on them.
Harley combined the two names along with the rings to make quite an Easter egg. The name was a reflection of the Harleys sentiments of revenge on the Japanese motorcycle industry.

Truth right here ^^^^
The company will deny it now but back then the truth of the bike was plastered all over print mags.

Thanks for breaking it down, I edited the original post matching your Harley history lesson.
