Default Oil drip

My 1998 FXDWG is almost oil tight (touch wood).
But there is a very small leak from the magnetic drain plug in the trans cover.

It seems there is no gasket or washer to prevent leakage.

Is it just a matter of living with it or can I fix it with some trix?

It drips like two or three small drips in two weeks on the garage floor.

That is a tapered pipe plug, be careful not to over tighten the plug or it will crack the cover.

As GOGOBECK suggested, use some teflon tape on the threads.

If there is a leak from the inner primary cover oil seal, it will run down to the area of the plug...

Are you sure its the plug? I'd suggest taking a look from underneath. A leak from the inner primary will run down the rear of the inner primary and drip from that area, too.

I have now cleaned the underside of the motor.
It should help with detecting as were the oil comes from.

Hopefully not from the inner primary gasket.
Thanks for the info.
Cheers.

FWIW the first time I changed my primary fluid I had a leak at that plug because I didn't put anything on it.
Ever since then I've been using a thread paste and haven't had a leak since.

Check the inner primary seal, with a flashlight and a mirror you can see the back side of the inner primary..
