Low mileage stock Evo’s dont seem to last long
I changed the front valve guide gaskets that had started to smoke around 50K miles (many years ago), and have changed the voltage regulator 3 times and the ECU 1 time.
Other than those things it never had any problems. I'll be doing both cycliders this time because of a slight leak at the base of the rear. I have been VERY lucky with her
.My new FLTCU ('93 but bought her 2 ys ago) is by her side in my garage being reassemled after I decided to get her to go a little faster.... CAM and final drive ratio.
I had been looking for a stock Tour Glide for a few years but couldn't find one that hadn't come here from the U.S. (side import, they never sold here in Italy). The one's that I found were in REALLY bad shape and the sellers wanted big bucks. The one I finally found in good shape was in Germany (at $9K) so I flew up and got it
EVO's are great. Very little you can't do in your garage and if you're as lucky as I have been with my Softail I could almost do without a garage!!!!
Hell, I sold a damn fine evo WG to buy the TC nighttrain. Should have kept that one too
