I got my FXST/C new in '87 ... now its got 195K miles. I AM SERIOUS ! It is now sitting in my garage with the front top end off 'cause i blew the head gasket.....last week.
I changed the front valve guide gaskets that had started to smoke around 50K miles (many years ago), and have changed the voltage regulator 3 times and the ECU 1 time.
Other than those things it never had any problems. I'll be doing both cycliders this time because of a slight leak at the base of the rear. I have been VERY lucky with her .
My new FLTCU ('93 but bought her 2 ys ago) is by her side in my garage being reassemled after I decided to get her to go a little faster.... CAM and final drive ratio.
I had been looking for a stock Tour Glide for a few years but couldn't find one that hadn't come here from the U.S. (side import, they never sold here in Italy). The one's that I found were in REALLY bad shape and the sellers wanted big bucks. The one I finally found in good shape was in Germany (at $9K) so I flew up and got it . Used it for about 15K miles and decided that she's a keeper so now I'm laying some more money down for her too.
EVO's are great. Very little you can't do in your garage and if you're as lucky as I have been with my Softail I could almost do without a garage!!!!

Nice Fatboy Peak. I will admit, I bought a new 2002 carbed Nighttrain while deployed. It was waiting on me when I got home. It was a decent bike but I started hearing all the cam chain tensioner horror stories and sold it. Bought my buddy’s 99 NT and rode the stank out of it. Should have kept the 99, but we’ve all got stories about the one we let get away.

Hell, I sold a damn fine evo WG to buy the TC nighttrain. Should have kept that one too

Got my eye on a low mileage 94 Bagger. Guy is a little high priced as of now. After it sits for awhile I’ll hit him up at $5k and see what he says. 25yo bikes arent worth $7k in my opinion. It is bone stock. Just the way I like’em.
