So I recently bought a 1991 ultra classic out of a lady’s garage got her up and going new tires fluids etc etc long story short the previous owner took the faring off and put a windshield in its place now I’m 30 years of age and I’m not a big fan of the papa look iv have searched high and low for a faring that fits that bike I can’t find one now can I buy one for a 1996 off eBay and custom make some brackets or what’s the deal what’s the difference any info I would appreciate pics would be a lot better if y’all have takin a new faring and put on a older bike or Ideas on something that looks better if a faring is out of the picture what options do I have thanks in advance

Are you sure that the bike is an Ultra Classic ( does the VIN number verify its an Ultra Classic) The Ultra Classic would have had the gauges and a radio and speaker mounted in an inner fairing. The gauge set-up on the bike looks similar to a FLHS ( sport ). If your looking to put a fairing from a 1991 Ultra back on the bike you have a lot of work ahead of you and the tough part is finding the parts. If you are just looking for an outer fairing then look for a fairing and brackets for a 1984 or 1985 FLHTC or possibly one of these aftermarket fairing for a Road King. I have a 1985 FLHTC and that was the last year for the open fairing ( no inner fairing ) 1986 FLHTC has the inner and out fairing and radio.

yes I have ran the vin it’s a true ultra classic because that’s what I was thinking at first was maybe it wasn’t and I don’t have to go back with a faring it’s just the gauges are god awful ugly lol… I’d pull them off but the triple tree is just as ugly with out all that on there 😂😂

somebody did a lot of work to convert it to what it is now. Like I said earlier trying to find parts for the inner fairing to go back to 1991 Ultra will be a tough journey I believe. back in the mid 1990's I new a guy that took that gauge set-up off the bike and converted it all to look like a FLH or what is now the "road king" he even change to split tanks. a few custom made parts were involved in his build.

I changed a tour glide to a sport like your configuration and there were only a few parts needed but it was still a lot of work.

Going the other way will be nearly impossible, you'd almost need a donor bike to get the parts you'll need, I'd bet 95% are obsolete. The bigger parts are easier to find used, the little parts not so much. There's a good chance the fairing may have been damaged and he couldn't get the parts to fix it. The gauges don't look too hideous because they are fastened to and mounted behind the inner fairing. Unless you're really attached to the bike, I'd get it in working condition, sell it and get what you really want.

You can probally figure in new handle bars as well. Those bars are straight, and the "bagger bars" have to agle back through the inner fairing, then go up
