Default ORing Primary Drain Plug?

Edited to Add: I found the answer. You are supposed to use Loctite 565 thread sealant on the primary drain plug.

Does anyone know if there is supposed to be an ORing on the Primary drain plug? I don't see one in the manual. This is for a 1998 Ultra. I changed the Primary oil for the first time. There was no ORing, but it looked like they might have put some teflon tape on the threads that I pulled off. When I reassembled everything there was no leak. About an hour later I took it for a ride, and there has been a very slow drip since then.

No O-ring here….

I just use Teflon tape and never had an issue. Leave the plug flush with the primary cover.

If it’s leaking….I would observe it awhile to make sure it’s not running down from the inspection cover.

I use a O-ring on mine, do not use a torque wrench, just snug it up.

Edit: Did not realize I was in the EVO section, I was referring to my TC.

rk classic.

Drain plug is 1/8"npt. Tapered threads. As mentioned, do not over tighten. Always used 2 rounds or Teflon tape and never a problem.

I ended up using teflon tape. No leaks. Thanks everyone.

Just an FYI regarding Teflon tape. It is not petroleum resistant. I realize most people use on to seal everything from petcocks to drain plugs and never have issues but, if you do have a leak appear someplace you used it, chances are the Teflon tape has degraded.
I always have this product on hand to seal threads and gaskets. It has never failed me.

Just another FYI regarding Teflon Tape...

PTFE tape is absolutely resistant to petroleum. If the tape you are using is not, then it is not actually Teflon.

I've never needed teflon tape on my primary drain plug. Never tried Hylomar, but it looks like a good product. Actually...I've been using silver anti-seize for 36 years and never had a leak issue. As pointed out above that plug is " tapered pipe threads". If it has gotten a little sloppy over the years due to overtightening a steel plug in an aluminum primary cover the traditional product to use for sealing pipe threads is Pipe Dope with Teflon.

The majority of guys just go to a hardware store and buy generic Teflon tape which is intended for plumbing applications. That is who my post was directed to.
