Default Repop tanks ????????

Well..Im starting to understand why alot of my buddies walked away from bike building. The crap that we end up with these days is horrible.I have been at this since the late 70's when quality and fit was still somewhat acceptable..
So, I thought i'd replace my tanks as the current ones are mint..and I couldent bring myself to sand them down and destroy a pefectly good paint job..so I ordered this... set put them on a few hours ago..and guess what ! More junk ! almost 3/4 " shorter than the factory tanks...so now the lower dash no longer fits....
The sad part is..I have never had any issues back in the day with this manufacturer..guess with all the shipping shortages..the below substandard parts are coming out of the dark dusty closets and being sold to 30 plus year customers...duped again.

Let them know the parts they sent you don't fit right and that you'd like it replaced with the right part or they can send you a return label and you'd like a refund.

These days I would rather buy a set of used OEM tanks even if I have to do some repair work. The metal is thicker and mounting horns don't normally crack (if properly shimmed) like they do on aftermarket "chineezium" tanks.

The Bay is your friend, buy another set and keep your original paint. In ten years you will want to put the OP back on the bike, maybe 20.

Yeah, I was gonna suggest returning those and buying a nice used set, like on ebay.

A friend installed repo tanks and had constant crap clogging his fuel filter.

I agree with Hey Man and Architect, find a set of OEM tanks.

Aftermarket tanks have been junk for years decades.

Leave the original tanks alone, that`s what I did when I got tired of the original paint scheme, my original tanks and fenders are stored in my attic.

When you finally find some OEM tanks, make sure the inside is clean and rust free before thinking about paint (don`t ask).
