Thanks! I'll check those out! what's the name of them?
Soft lowers. I have a set from HD. Once you get the straps adjusted correctly the first time you use them, and determine exactly how to maneuver the exhaust and oil lines its a snap to put them on or take them off. Easiest when the bike is not at operating temp.
That's basically the issue. How often are you riding at 90? ... You might be riding often where 6th is really not usable (too slow), but you really would like shift up from 5th

Come back after riding it for a while with an opinion on the gearing ... as I mentioned before, HD added 2T to Rear in 09 (along with the new Rear Tire having a slightly smaller OD) ... probably for a reason
a PO apparently didn't like the Batwing mounted mirrors and also replaced the Seat with one from a Road King Std (Your wife should thank that PO )
Keep in Mind, some don't like the gearing on those 07/08 models (that can be remedied if needed) ... 07 First year for 6spd and 66T (from 5sp/70T) ... changed to 68T in 09
Appears to be a nice bike ... Enjoy
Oh and BTW, you have the next best wheel bearings 2000-07 (compared to Tapered Roller) ... changed again in 08
.
Multihdrdr you hit the nail on the head, the 66 tooth sprocket is geared to high for my liking, I bought a 40354-04 68 tooth sportster sprocket and in the process of replacing it
I think the meme "FXR is the best handling Harley ever made" should be updated to "FXR, the best handling Harley made at THAT time". Things have moved on.

Arent the Twin Cam bagger frames based on the FXR frames? I mean if you look at them side by side theres a lot of resemblance between the two.
I rode my friends FXR back in the day quite a bit and I've owned several Twin Cam baggers. IMO the FXR does handle nicely but the baggers are much better.
