You're right about a bad charging system but his list said he had low voltage at the battery - it will still crank over and start. At least mine does when the battery draws down - and that's often. He may not get far but it could get him onto a trailer or a few miles to a shop for service.

I'm like the auto mechanic whose car gets attention last, it's usually too busy at the shop to get it in .. I'll have to wait until I get the new house up and get my stuff unpacked.

Fun facts known by few:

Your friendly local HD dealership will test your battery FREE OF CHARGE. Just bring it in and ask them to test it. When you pick it up they will give you a printout of the battery condition.
