I put one of these on my '79 FXE and it worked great. Never had any problems with it.
Had one for a while now but never installed it, seriously rethinking that this winter. Bendix has never really seated deeply into the ring gear on mine and with the inches and compression it doesn't like staying engaged.

Usually it's to much timing on start up that makes them kick out.. This is what I like about Dynatek You can have a kicker whatever or a high compression motor,, 0° up to about 600 RPM so you never get that kick back..

DynaS and running 30 degree on my timing, there's other issues and some wear at play on this one. 88" @ 9.2-1 comp was never a problem. 93" @ 11.7-1 static thats 215+ PSI a hole cold it's another ball game.
There's some changes coming this winter, just have get a plan what I really want to do.
How old is the battery? My battery is getting weak. If I leave the bike on the trickle charger the battery will charge 100%. If I let the bike sit off the charger for a few the battery won't hold a charge. Go to start and nothing.
Take the starter motor to an auto-electric shop. They can test it, and rebuild for a fraction of a new one. I've had Harley, snowmobile, backhoe, tractors, etc, starters rebuilt.
new starter and new battery, same damn issue!!! I just put the new starter in 5 minutes ago. 🤬
After years of messing around with the same issue when trying to start my engine cold, or even hot sometimes, I've tried several different things, new " higher torque" starter with upgraded gear ratios, new heavier cables, cleaning every single connection to no avail. After replacing the battery ( usually every year!) it'll turn over ok a couple times then back to stalling on the compression until I bump it past. I'm seriously considering changing the cam out to something with a more start friendly grind. Been this way since I built the engine way back when. Too much compression at startup I think. SE heads, 10 to 1 pistons with a SE54 cam, Crane Hi4, Mikuni 42 and manifold, Jims roller rockers and lots more.

I think it would be better just to install some mechanical compression releases.. Most places doing them for $150 and then you got gaskets that's it.. saves a lot of wearing tearing everything...
