Default Alternator connection

Found my alternator connection was loose, almost killed a good battery. Lucky I caught it quickly. I know this wire 'hook' is suppose to keep it in place. It was perfectly horizontal when I noticed.

I can't find the thread in this forum where I found you guys had a few different home made solutions for this. Hope I can convince everyone to post up some pics of your different ideas for a better more reliable connection. (don't mind the oil you see. That's just me being a little sloppy)

Thanks Schex, I like the one up top. I don't see that one coming loose.

MIM from cheap pot metal then plated, and lets face it, with the way it can pivot on the bolt, not the best either way.

This on the other hand, less refined, but a hell of lot better system instead.

As for real problem, neither really solves that, since its more solved with keeping the two flooded with dielectric grease to prevent the corrosion instead.

That’s your opinion and I got mine, but I’d bet you never touched one, this one been in use for ten years and 80k miles, plug is captured tight no movement in any direction, no grease and no corrosion, rubber boots stays sealed.

I eliminated the plug completely by extending and wiring in waterproof external connectors and used silicone to fill up the hole in the case.

I used this on my shovel for over 20 years with great success. Still like that on it now actually.
