I buggered the post on my battery and am looking for opinions on where to go from here. I've been advised that it can be repaired by building up the post with solder. If I go that way I'll place a bolt and nut into the post and melt the solder around them. Whadya think??? good idea or bad. It's a new $200 battery so I don't want to buy another if I can repair it.
That battery might be toast. But hey go ahead and try to soldering it. If it works it might help others with the same dilemma. Please post how it works out...
I don't know but here's some out of the box thinking.
Is the post lead?
In the old days car dents were repaired with lead.
(Not sure if solder is lead).
So get a lead stick, a small torch, build up the post with molted lead, file to shape, tap threads and reconnect harness.
Good luck.
Before you bugger it all up, why not go back to where you bought it and ask them. Perhaps for a fee or surcharge, theyll swap it out or something. Battery connections need to be tightened to the max and I have doubts if a alley fix is going to cut it.
Don't be using an open flame to solder a battery post. Batteries release hydrogen gas which is quite explosive. When a battery explodes it's a big deal & you risk serious injury. Be careful!

Doesn't look like anything would be real reliable. Maybe put a copper block in the gap and run a bolt through to hold it side to side to hold it there. then drill front to back for the for a fastener bolt.Think I'd bite the bullet and buy another if the return doesn't work.
