Hopefully that's true, that's WAY easier to deal with. Haven't been able to get to it yet, but before anything else I'll pull the tubes and see what I can find.

Did you prime the oil pump? Sounds like there isn't any oil in it.

Never took it out, just did a topend. Verified that oil is returning to the tank, and the oil light goes out immediately. Almost 100% sure that's not my problem..

Will be checking pushrod adjustments tomorrow morning before I think about a ride.

Tell your Missus to shut off that sewing machine, I can barely hear the bike running.

Pull the two oil plugs and make sure you have oil there. The ones by the lifter block and oil pump. I got a replacement motor one time and I couldn’t get oil to the lifters. It was like it was air locked. sounded the same way. Wouldn’t come out of it till I did that.

Was it converted FROM solid lifters TO hydraulic? If "yes", were the plugs in the tappet blocks removed?

That was a Shovelhead thing. Evo's oil their top end through the pushrods as they don't have external oil lines to the rocker boxes like Shovels and '63-'65 Panheads. If one was to plug the tappet blocks on an Evo there would be no oil supply to the heads.

Did you pull the screen out that filters the oil going to the top end? It might be plugged. The first time I serviced my shovel, I pulled that screen and it looked like there was a tampon in there. It's a way long shot, but I didn't see anybody else suggest it.
