Default Where do you set your spark plug gap?

1994 Fatboy, 80-inch Evo. The manual says 0.038 to 0.043. I'm seeing differing opinions online.

So what gap do you guys set?

I would set it somewhere at 0.040.

With the spark plug gap tool you'll use to do this, you'll be lucky to get it within .005" anyway so just get it as close as you can. Not busting your chops or anything but when using a feeler type gauge, there's a lot of "feel" to it.

I have a 1996 FB book call for the same as you posted 0.038 to 0.043. I set it a 40 and call it good always have always will.
It is not a critical thing. If it was HD would clearly say set it at this period.

In the garage. That’s where I work on the bike. So in the garage is where I set the gap.

I have a dial gauge and it just so happened that it "landed" on about 0.041.

I went with it and she purrs like a kitten.

This has been my experience, also. This time, I landed at about 0.041 and it runs great.

Set them right in the middle no more no less. Index the plugs in opposite directions and you can get half a horse power more .
And a little torque on a cool day.
