Default Clutch problem?

Hi there.Been having some clutch dis engagement problems for a while now. 96 Roadking.Stock clutch..Decided to remove and inspect my friction /steel discs. I did locate the problem as the rivets were comming out of the center spring plate in the middle of the clutch pack.I just need some thoughts on another issue. I think i screwed up my clutch basket because when i was removing the outer snap ring (i did use the spring compressor tool) at leat half of the aluminium tabs that hold the snap ring in place broke (.There is a total of 8).Any thoughts about this? Im thinking i didnt have the tool compressed enough possibly. Or maybe just weak metal.I think i may need replace the entire hub.looks expensive.Just looking for advice.thks

You are correct in that you will have to press out the clutch hub and replace it, along with the clutch hub bearing (recommended). Also, it is recommended to get rid of the middle spring plate. You can get a clutch pack with extra plates. Just need a press and this can be done pretty easily.

Clutch hub is not too expensive: https://www.partsgiant.com/p392034-t...CABEgIHHPD_BwE

Thanksfor the reply.I had a bitch of a time getting that snap ring out of the groove in the hub.i do have some decent snap ring plyers but the snap ring dosnt have holes to grab it so ended up using a screwdriver.Thats how i f___ed it up.Am i going to have issues re installing he snap ring on the new hub? Also do i need a puller to remove the basket?i watched a u tube video and the guy jist pulled it off with his hands.

If you are using the spring compression tool, you shouldn't have a tough time getting the large snap ring back in. There's also another smaller snap ring that you will need to take off and re-install when installing a new clutch hub. You don't need a puller to pull off your clutch basket.
