I always have to laugh out loud when I see this. A 27 yr old motorcycle with "Live to Ride" stuck all over it and 5600 mi on the clock.
IF you got the bags and windshield...great. If not...here's a couple of suggestions.
To make my FXRS into more of a "tourer"...I've found adding a Windvest and a pair of Ironbags to be absolutely IDEAL.
To each their own, I say, but I NEVER liked the gold eagle ride to live on a scooter. Tackiness overload IMHO.
No bags or fairing, but gonna invest in one soon. My 99 FLSpringer sold me on those..

On my list is to lower her an inch or so. At 5'7" it sits just a tad high. Upgrade the seat and lights.
This was an impulse buy squared!
It was tucked back in a dark corner of the showroom floor when it caught my eye.
A clean EVO !
I was sure it was someone's personal ride.
After an hour or so if drooling over it.
I bought it. Small down payment Friday.
Gonna settle up with them today, and ride it home. About 30 miles. Cool ( 40's) and drizzle .

My better half was unpleasantly surprised.
She thinks I'll park the triglide and leave her home. Not gonna happen. The trike is a long, comfortable, rider. My Dyna is just to putt around on.
I'm pretty tickled to say the least.
Nothing like the petupa, petupa, petupa,of an older, carbureted scooter.

Take-off bags show up on Marketplace or eBay from time to time. Are the mounts still there, including the threaded holes in the rear fender?

Yea, the mounts are still there.
My 1st mission is to find a decent fairing that compliments the bike.

They handle nicely, and if you ever do any trips the bags and windscreen come in handy. The bags don't hold a ton but they are better than nothing and they are nice and secure once mounted.

The windscreen is a little large, but when it's cold outside you will be happy you have it.

That bike will keep you happy for awhile. Good luck with it.
I have a 95 and it came with the original bags and windshield. I took the bags off and put them in a box, I dont care for their looks. I was going to take the GIANT windshield off too but after a ride or two I discovered that the massive ugly windshield is probably one of the best ones ever made. I rode home from camp an hour and 20 minutes in a light rain with that shield on and other than my feet, I stayed mostly dry.

Nice score, after we find our retirement place I'd love to get a Dyna Wide Glide to make a hotrod out of.

They are out there. I picked up this beauty several weeks ago. 1996 Dyna FXDS Convertible with 11,400 on the clock. PO had trouble finding neutral and keeping the tires aired up, but he isn't really a bike guy. I brought it home, installed a hydraulic primary chain tensioner, (the chain was really loose), and adjusted the clutch,(was way out), and replaced the fluid. Took care of that issue. I then replaced the valve stems in both wheels, seeing as how this is a 27 year old bike. Seems to have fixed that problem. R/R'ed all fluids, except brake fluid, gotta do that next. This bike is a hoot; runs strong, handles nice. One thing that really bothers me is the location of the jiffy stand; my foot couldn't find it! I installed an extension piece from V-twin engineering, purchased through J&P, a quality piece, solid with good chrome; an easy fix that made me happy. I've had a couple of shovelheads and twin cams, so I thought I'd try an EVO. The adventure continues! Congrats on your find; I'm sure You're as happy with your find as I am with mine!

^^^^I know what you mean about the location of the kickstand. I have a 1995 FXDS and at first I had a lot of trouble getting my foot under it. No that I've owned the bike for a while its a no brainer.
Enjoy that bike, its a nice looking scoot.

Nice bike! You will like how it handles due to the 28 degree rake. That and the factory rear shocks makes the bike taller. I don't have any issues with finding the jiffy stand, however there some aftermarket extenders out there. My issue with the jiffy was how much the bike leaned over on the jiffy. Reminded me of my old OIF Triumph in how much it leaned. I did not like it. A little welding on a certain tab on the jiffy and the lean issue is gone.

They are versatile bikes and I enjoy riding mine local and taking it on trips. It's not a bagger (and is not meant to be) but will travel long distances nicely. It's not an FXR either but you will be impressed with how it handles. Consider a close inspection and replacement (along with proper alignment after) of the rubber engine mounts front and rear. They get old, worn, the rubber gets hard in the back and soft in the front when exposed to oil (from oil filter change) and can affect your ride and handling. Proper engine/wheel alignment is important.

If not dialed in, it's not hard to do so and you will really enjoy the bike. Good luck with it. Keep it stock. The production numbers of that model bike per year was pretty low, so not many of them still around like that today.
