OK, I'm at my wits end with these POS Progressive 422 shocks. Since buying them four years ago I have never been able to get them dialed in and neither could the shop that installed them. No matter how I adjust the ride height the bike sits low and I have little or no suspension travel. No matter how I adjust the pre load they go from very little dampening to almost hard tail. What's the deal. Are these thing shot or or what? BTW. 1993 FLSTC.
I myself don't care for them.. I've had 2 sets and have the same issue.. Never could get them adjusted properly.. Even sent them back and still an over priced POS..
I have a set of Progressive (412s I think) on my 97 Road King.
The coil springs themselves come in standard & Heavy duty.
When I purchased the shocks, they (wrongly) came with Heavy duty springs I couldnt get them dialed in. A call to Progressive got me a set of standard springs.
Big bubbles, no troubles I have 55k on them now and they perform well for me.
i tried a set of their shocks on my Shovelhead and found them to be crap, cheap & nasty shocks that might work on a 125 but NOT on a Harley, i ended buying a set of gas adjustable shocks from 'THE SHOCK FACTORY' who build bespoke to your needs and riding style, i have found them as good as OHLINS, but at 1/4 the price,
check them out here,.... Shock Factory (shock-factory.co.uk)
I don't care for Progressives either, maybe its the spring rate, but always seemed like I felt every bump in the road. And on hard cornering my pipes would drag.
90 Fxrs-sp. Been looking at Ricor IAS, there are other makers, but too spendy for me, guess I'll just suffer.
^^^btw, thanks for the link.

Interesting but they apparently dont make shocks for his bike. Softail starts 2018 up for their products.
