In over 40 years of riding many bikes from multiple manufacturers I don't think I've ever attempted to shift into neutral from 2nd.

I am the original owner of a 1997 Dyna Wide Glide and the Owner's Manual says the same thing. It is the truth, no way to get into neutral from second, as designed by the MoCo. Why is it designed that way? IDK but it is real. You get used to it after a couple of miles. I do not know which other models of similar vintage have this setup, I just know the early Dyna's are like that. First time hearing other models had the same setup.

Why the rest of you would or would not want to get into neutral from second has nothing to do with the question.

I'd noticed this with my 96 FLHUTC. I thought it was "just me" and would come with practice, but sounds as though it won't?

The fix to all of finding neutral issues is the Baker N1 shift drum... Takes a little getting used to but it's a cat's ***....
