Default Axle installation.

Does it matter which way the axle is installed on a 94 bagger. I would like to install it from the left instead of right. I have 2-1 exhaust and it would be easier not having to remove exhaust to remove rear wheel. There are no steps on the axle shaft so looks like it shouldn’t matter which direction it is installed. Unless I’m missing something.

It is fine with the rear axle.

Does not matter.

Though I do recommend the bearing shims be on the leading side. That is, if the axle goes in from the left, the shims and step washer need to be behind the left bearing. Again, doesn't matter but much easier to NOT mess up the shims when starting the axle than trying to get the other side lined up and axle thru with shims shifting on you.

Lots of people reverse them intentionally so they don't have to remove exhaust pipes to remove wheel.

Good. That’s what I’ll do then. Thanks. She’s getting a once over. New sprockets and belt, new cleveblocks and bushings, new alternator. The more I ride my new bike, the more I want to sell it and just ride the Evo.

I've got a '93 Lowrider. My wife's bike now really. But I do take it out ocassionally. When I do I remember how much I enjoy riding it. It's fast and nimble. Too easy to get froggy on! Good thing she doesn't ride it like I do.
