Default Speedsters?

Hello there, fellow Evo-adepts.

Been cruisin thru the Belgian country side for 7 years now on my '96 Fatboy.
Black/smokey grey paint.. Since I saw 3 of them, Iguess there are only 5 or 6 of them in the whole of Belgium!!!

Former owner took the filters out of the stock harley slashcuts, installed some CraneCam he said.
My bikehas a K&N AC.
It runs very nice and wouldn't sell it for double it's value.
Unlike a Twincam it has the original feel of a Harley V-twin

Only one inconvenience. You have to get into higher RPM's before you feel the power kick in.
Really feels like some kind of seat of the pants"boost".
This seems quite odd to me, since there was a aftermarket Cam installed.

Could this be the result of the removed baffles (crossover still in place)or is something wrong with the carb settings.

Since I'm not that much of a technician, I hope to get some PoV's from you guys.
Harley dealers over here don't do much more then sell new stock twinkies.
I'd hate to spend a 1000Euro's on some exhausts if the problem lies elsewhere.

Keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down...
Greetings, Insp.Clouseau

Hello Inspector-

Sounds like you have a sweet ride.
My feeling isthe intake and exhaust are ok, free flow of air and spent gasses, though straight through pipes can hurt performance.
Different cams make power in different parts of the RPM band. Some make torque, usually lower in the band for heavy bikes and touring, some make power in the upper part of the band for more horsepower.
Without knowing just what cam the former owner intalled, I would think that the cam is set up to make high horseporwer, as horsepower cams do come on at hight RPM's. Seems like the bike is running well as it was set up to run. If you want to change the power band, look into putting your 1000 Euros changing the cam.
Or you can keep bending your wrist and enjoy that power rush when it kicks in.

Ozarkrider is right. I have a Andrews cam in my 99 evo, and it comes in at 2800 rpm & pulls to around 5500 rpm. Bike has normal heavy & slow feel of aHD, untill you reach 2800 rpm, and then you really feel it pick up. If you dont like the cam set up change it, but remember you usually lose on the top end to gain it on the low end.

Thx for the info guys.

I've sent an info to CobraUsa for a dealer location here in this ape country.
Keep you posted if I DO choose to install them.
