I just brought home my first Harley. It’s a Softail Heritage Classic, 1998, EVO engine.
But, I think the engine was changed, is not from 1998, because it has bottom breather and also the solenoid starter. The number engraved on the engine crankcase is BKLH021904.
Can someone help, please, how can I find out details about the engine?
EDIT: the VIN no, of the bike, is 1HD1BJL47WY047716, and it shows no accidents.
Yeah somebody swapped out that motor.. It came out of a 1987 Softail custom..
Many thanks for the info.
How do you know is from '87? I mean, '84 - '88 were not all the same?
The bad thing is that I don't know how many miles this engine has ......
If it runs well and does not do worn out $hit like smoak and make noise seen 87 softail back in the day put 100,000 miles before rebuild
There's another guy on here that just bought his first Harley and he thinks he has issues with it running funny and he posted a video of how it runs and I honestly believe that there's motor work done to it, not stock therefore he has no issues so I told him he should just ride it and enjoy it..
The Same way I did my F150....The VIN is on the Frame...
Everything else don't mean ****...to the DMV
A number of my friends own titled, legal FX 's...yea... no E even... that are looking like Catalog FLH's... It is what it Is!!!
