Default Tail Light help

I started tearing down the back end of my 99 FXST and I want to swap the tail light to LED. The issue is that the base plate for the stock tail light is riveted to the license plate mount and all the LEd lights I have found do not have a way to mount other than the 2 screws (one on either side). Im starting to pull my hair out. I have parts diagrams but they don't list part numbers for the part I need lol and I am now starting to think I may have to sway to a different rear fender style which doesn't really bother me but I havent been able to find any fenders that have the cut out for my turn signal cancellation box like my stock fender has.

Brains of the EVO world bikes please help cause im looooossssssttttt.

I'm not familiar with the mount, but can you drill out the rivets and then bolt everything back together with the new lights?

How about a little more detail on that bulb.

'NAPA 12V 2W 1157 RED' that's all the printing that's on it. I forgot to look for a 5 watt version when I was in O'Rielly's getting oil for my truck but they have a good selection of LED lamps that are a direct plug in replacement.

Thanks for the post about the bulb but this bike already had a similar bulb and it was ok but the lens and housing are shot. Also I am trying to upgrade all the lighting to full LED not just bulb replacements. My turn signals didn't even work as I found out the wiring was broken between the light and the seat so I am rewiring both rear lights right now.

Does anyone know if newer licence plate mounts will fit our frame? the newer bikes with the bobbed fender have a similar light so im curious how different the mounting is.

Maybe get a BrightAssLight taillight with the evo adapter?

Super bright, all led. They show up regularly in the f/s part of the forum.
