Default Exhaust Studs

Had purchased new exhaust studs awhile ago, but never actively went to change them.

After my last rip, I had to remove my exhaust and one of the OEM studs started to move with the exhaust nut. I was able to easily separate the stud and nut.

The attached picture shows the new exhaust studs I was thinking of installing.

The new ones can be installed with an Allen bit on one end.

Any pros/cons?

I believe J&P Cycles, otherwise Dennis Kirk.

The OEM studs for the M8 motors have a hex at the end of the stud. I think they'd be easier to remove after they had been installed a while, if the need arose.

Can't see how that (the hex on the end) would hurt anything, but I don't see it as being particularly useful either.

If the time comes when you want to remove them, and they're stubborn, jamming two nuts on the end will work just as well, and would have the added benefit of using a larger wrench which would give you more leverage and be less likely to round off.

0maha you've been so absent lately, I don't think you should be allowed to speak on here without raising your hand first!

Prevents the problem that was stated in the OP. You can hold the stud solid and break the nut loose without loosening the stud. Not only for install/removal of the stud.

Everyone in the world has problems breaking them off and /or can't get them out when they need to be replaced. But then, we're talking about GreenOHawk.... if anything weird or paranormal will ever happen to a bike, it'll be his.

Hang in there GH! We're pulling for ya...
